First Sentences

“Mommy issues. Serial cheater. Humour void. Two-pump chump.” With each guy who entered the campus bar, I ticked off my initial impression to my drunken friends.

My thoughts

Sexy. Rouge. Hot.

This describe this book perfectly! This was my first Kresley Cole book and I really enjoyed it. Honestly, BDSM isn’t usually my favourite type of romance book but when a friend of mine recommended this one I gave it a go. This is one of her older series and it’s the first book of three.

Natalie Porter is a hard-working grad student with the exception that she’s the long lost daughter of a powerful Russian Mafia boss. This discovery puts Natalia in danger, Aleksei Sevastyan is tasked in protecting her as well as bringing her to Russia to meet a father that she’s never even heard of before. Natalia is off limits for Sevastyan but the more time they spend together the hard it was for them to deny their attraction. Their chemistry was off the charts and pleasure is the name of the game for them.

The book had all the makings of a great read. Natalie’s character was well developed, which was great since the whole book was from her point of view. I liked Natalie’s character, she wasn’t the perfect girl, she was very relatable. She had her doubts and she was learning as the book progressed. She was witty, fun, sarcastic and most of all she has a really good heart. Paring that with the hot/cold Sevastyan we saw that it took a lot for her to chip away at his hard shell to get to know the man behind the hard exterior. As steamy as some of their scenes were my favourites were the moments where they’d opened up to each other.

We also saw a glimpse of the Sevastyan’s brother’s so I’m looking forward to seeing their stories play out on paper.

The other parts of the book that kept me interested in were the plot lines. The romance of the two weren’t the only line of plot. There were also the Mafia wars that was going on in the background that kept me wanting more. From this book I’d definitely be reading more of her books! Happy Reading!
