John and Jenny Grogan move to Florida after their wedding. They adopt a puppy, Marley. When Marley grows up he doesn’t lose his puppy ways and neither John nor Jenny are able to train him. He’s still tests everyone’s patience by acting like the world’s most impulsive dog. But along the way John’s used Marley as the basis of all of this column material. And John and Jenny grow their family. Eventually Marley passes away and the family looks back on the time that they’ve spent chasing after him.
I loved this movie; it was taken from the book of the same name. It was a really emotional movie. I always get super emotional when it comes to animals. The story was really simple but it was just so emotional where a puppy’s companionship grows so deep for that family. I loved watching the relationship develop between the family from when they brought him home to the very end.
There wasn’t a huge cast, the story focused on Marley mostly but it was an emotional movie to watch. The movie humanises Marley with such realism. And the movie captured all the emotions of all the different characters of that family. I’ve definitely got the book written down in my list of things to read. I’m looking forward to it. But this movie is one of my favourites.
